Creative workshop “What kind of caterpillar are you?” Using a rich arsenal of different tools, children with their accompanying adults and the creators of the theatre of the senses will create a caterpillar, their own individualised sensory toy. By touching, listening and playing with special materials, children will discover their own sensory-compliant caterpillar design and fill it with heavy, stretchy, soft sounding or squeaking objects of their liking. After the workshop, they will be able to bring the new “friends of peace” home and use it to concentrate, relax or release accumulated energy through senses.

Theatre of the Senses

Theatre of the Senses was created for the blind participatory performances by director Karolina Zernyte. It is a sensitive experience of movement, touch, soundscape, smell, taste, text, atmosphere and interpersonal interaction. The notion of “performed” theatre takes on a radically new meaning, as performances engage not only eyes and ears but all senses of the audience. In this way, the location of action is not only the physical space on stage, but rather the mind of individual audience member. Theatre of the Senses turns the body into the stage of a sensorial theatre. The actor in Theatre of the Senses is a guide who creates an empathic space of experience for both blind and sighted.
