About the theatre
Papasony’s theater story began in 2004 when a young actor and director Andrii Leliukh united talented actors and amateurs that couldn’t imagine their lives without theatre.
Premier of the first shadow spectacle “Whisper of the unconscious mind…Dreams” was held in 2009.
It was a mix of classic and shadow performances. Lately, theatre director Andrii took the decision to transform performance just to shadows and body language – with no words. This idea was highly supported by spectators approved by theatre critics’ reviews and nominated for awards of Grand Prix at the international and Ukrainian festivals.
The Theatre of shadows is a unique instrument that opens a space of endless expressions of human emotions and feelings: love and hate, happiness and pain, powers of nature and the universe. It has no language, age, or understanding limits – shadows, variety of lights and colors, music – are speechless tellers, a unique charm that touches your soul.
